Why not simply write a script that emails the contents of a fill-in form to
the LISTSERV or Majordom or whatever?

The user would input LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, and EMAIL ADDRESS in the form.
The script could either pass the input of a hidden field in the form as the
body of the message, or, if the subscription command needs the user's first
and last name, the script could generate the body of the message on the fly
taking the values from LAST NAME and FIST NAME.

Just an idea.
