It certainly would. We at the Australian Army Battle Simulation Group
are currently looking at migrating one of our simulations to a unix
based system which is DIS compliant. Naturally part of this requires
rewriting the user interface. At this stage it is only two dimensional
but with the comming technology to be able to link full size (sit in
type) simulators to the overall "simulation process" the possibilties of
modelling 3D world has struck us also (hence my interest in VRML).

What we are looking at it for is to link together over a common
simulation backbone a number of wildly different simulations and have the
results reflected in their various "worlds" and how to interact the
graphics modelling with the simulation algorithms. This seems to be the
core of the problems that will be facing VRML in its strive for
interactivity.
