PHIL: Why no text in VRML???

There are no text nodes in VRML. Gavin has told me that
this was discussed and the idea rejected. I have looked
through the archive and find no such discussion. My
look was admittedly cursory. Can someone point me to
this discussion or summarize it for me?

I think leaving text out of VRML is a BIG (no make that HUGE)
mistake.
