It is mentioned in the HTTP/1.0 (or is that 2.0) spec. Not quite in
that format however. An error code is returned something like:

Moved 301
Location: <url> String CrLF

With "Location" passed as an rfc 822 header to the client. The client is then
supposed to be smart enough to recognize the header and go get the
alternate document.
